This format didn’t really work for me, however, I realize that it’s a matter of personal preference. I just don’t enjoy stories that are so short. It doesn’t allow for immersion, and I found my mind wandering many times because I just wasn’t invested in a story that would end in a minute.
It didn’t help that many of them didn’t have any resolution or emotional payoff. They had those open endings, and that was disappointing and made my choices feel meaningless — I started the story with no context and ended in the same way. Some of them were just kind of alright. And there was one I actually enjoyed that had a meaningful, emotionally charged ending that wrapped the story up and made my choice feel like it mattered.
Then, something broke, and I heard the first story again, but the choices I saw were from a completely different one. That’s when I stopped playing.
The concept of havin a bunch of short stories is very interesting, as it introduces you to a lot of different worlds an situations in a short amount of time. The stories were also set up really well, with interesting plottwists and good writing. The shortness of the stories did leave me wanting to know more sometimes, which ends up being a little unsatisfying, when there isn’t more. But it was entertaining regardless.
Personally really didn’t enjoy it. Because of how short the stories are, I had a real hard time figuring out what was going on and with that getting invested in them. But I think this is just a matter of taste.
I haven’t tried this format of stories before and I found I actually enjoyed it! The stories were good and enjoyable, I liked how I had the choice to say if I didn’t enjoy the story or not and how I would be prompted to a different story if I didn’t find it enjoyable or vice versa. I would play this style of short stories again!
The whole concept of mini-stories is really intriguing. This format introduces the listener to many different scenarios and worlds within minutes. There are well-designed plottwists introduced after just a couple sentences, completely turning the story around. I found 30 stories at once a bit much, and the AI voice asking about whether you enjoyed the story was a bit distracting. The voice actors did a really good job though, and I overall enjoyed the experience.
