Hooking Your Audience

Players, readers, and viewers have only one thing in common—they consume the data created to entertain them. So, I do not believe we should treat hints as relevant to all end users. The tools we use to make narrative immersive and unforgettable vary depending on how much experience we can afford to create. The biggest thing for me is to enjoy the thing itself while creating. Otherwise, you will deliver exactly the feeling you put into it.Respect your end user, make them a part of your show, and make them be with you through the flow. So they will never forget the experience.

Mastering Plot Development

See the story as a structure for the project, no matter the medium. If the story is a backbone, you set yourself in a particular frame you can enjoy playing with. What will it be done if your main character has technical issues with depicting his hands like AI art keeps experiencing? What character can you do with such a detail? How much will the narrative and setting be influenced by such a small detail as the absent hand of the protagonist? What if it’s an antagonist, then? Play your story from various limits you have and from every character’s perspective to add depth. But first and foremost, enjoy how you make the story’s world alive.

Effective World-Building Strategies

Use the story is the backbone. Tech and skills are the limits. And the team is the inspiration and enrichment.

Techniques for Character Development

Chat with the character in your head. Invite them for the virtual drink and just listen to all they say. See them alive and describe exactly what you see.

Crafting Meaningful Decisions

5 Tips on Writing: With Alexandra Kami

Every story has a reason as it happened, whether it’s just in your head or the breaking news. There is a meaning by default. You need to see it through.

You can’t choose wisely every time, just like any of your characters. You can’t choose the good side only, as there are so many versions of good for everyone involved. So make your choices and see how they change the world, others, and you. Then, choose which sequence of choices you want to depict.

What are your strengths in writing and narrative design?

For me, the narrative is not just a devil in details. But the depth you show using all possible mediums and tools. So, my cravings and aims are usually about a coherent and well-envisioned story that leaves you thoughtful and mind-switched in a way. I do love to make people see the angles and multiply their points of view.

Exploring Favorites

As for games – Journey is an old-but-gold epic tale with nearly zero words. As for books, I can’t highlight the only one as I read tons, and every book left some food for thought. But my favorite author is probably Thierry Pratchett, a very charming, easy-going profundity. I’m not sorry for not listing blockbusters or sage epic tales like Uliss here.

Which games or stories have you worked on?

Most of the games I have created or recreated are mobile or Facebook-based. My list includes fantasy, city builders, crimes, RPGs, and adventures. One of the last is the postapocalyptic survival story. The very last is a bit too steamy to say out loud. So, as you can see, I adore playing with all possible genres.
