A Detective Quiz

August 29, 2026

A Detective Story wasn’t for me. There were no choices that affected the flow of the story and the AI assigned to you already knew the truth about the cases you encounter in the story before you did.

Having the player determine what happened in each case is a fun idea, but this is only doable when a knowing authority already knows the answer. To justify the AI knowing the answer before you without being able to solve the cases themselves, the author created the AI Restriction Act which made it unable for AI to solve cases themselves.

I felt less immersed in the story because the whole point of being a detective is determining what happened when no one else knows, not playing detective when the case is already solved by the AI.

Most of all, there was no branching in this story, just a series of quizzes in which the player is right or wrong. This, combined with what I wrote before, leaves me unsatisfied.

All in all, it is difficult for me to feel immersed when the audio story is less like a tale and more like a quiz. However, if you like quizzes, A Detective Story is just the experience you’re looking for.

it’s nice that’s its short and the clear and being the rookie detective really makes it feel immersive and like you are directly training to be a crime solver!

I'd play more

February 9, 2026

I wasn’t expecting much from a five-minute story, but I genuinely enjoyed it. The puzzles weren’t too easy and still offered a bit of challenge, which is especially nice for such a short experience. I’d definitely want to play more.

Bite-sized cases to solve in a few minutes

December 9, 2025

This one wasn’t really my jam. I think the appeal of a detective story is to gather clues and sometimes be misled to eventually get the rush of solving a difficult case.

These cases are extremely small and easy. As a detective, you aren’t even present at the crime scene. Your AI shows you a picture of a murder victim and shares details based on which you have to answer questions, and that’s it, the case is solved.

The answers are rather obvious, especially in the first case, but I managed to get it wrong because I got distracted when a crucial detail was presented. However, if you hear that detail, there is no way you wouldn’t solve the case.

Maybe there is an audience for this kind of thing, like if you want a really short and easy puzzle to occupy your brain for a moment and be done with it.

Nice introduction to working as a detective

November 26, 2025

Very intriguing start as a detective. You get to solve the cases, while helped by an AI. This short story gives a good look into what the full version will be like. Your choices feel very important, as solving a crime correctly impacts the proper suspect being arrested, and to achieve that listening to every detail is crutial, making one very immersed in the story.
