Crossroads of Love is a story about a princess and prince, each from neighbouring kingdoms, that epitomize the difference and unification of their two cultures.
Phantasia’s traditional culture is contrasted by Tékhne’s technological way of life. The protagonist is the princess, and through her, you explore the themes of over-reliance on technology and stubbornly resisting technology. The story finds a great balance between the two.
The story falters as a love story. There are only two scenes where the princess interacts with the prince. The rest is backstory. The first scene has them creating music together and the second, depending on the choices you’ve made, has the princess professing her love for him. It lacked substance, like dancing the steps without heart.
This isn’t my typical genre, but I enjoyed the story. It was quite pleasant and kept me engaged. A huge part of it is a discussion of the value of human-made art as opposed to “art” made by AI, so it’s very topical. There are two opposing points of view, coming from cultural norms established in the characters’ respective countries.
An interesting story about two different nations and two different people, forced into marriage. It talks about the very present topic of technological advancement and shows an interesting dynamic between the two main characters, as they have very different views on this topic.
This story was in a genre that I typically read, being love and fantasy with the mentions of princes and princesses. I found it thrilling, with the choices that I could make as they were different from your typical princess stories. The main character could fight back and show her anger in certain situations, a refreshing take on the stereotypical depiction of how princesses are. A very enjoyable and fun story 🙂
This love story was very interesting mostly due to the unusual contrast between them in how they each approach art, which also tackles the qustion of the loss of culture through the advancement of technology. Which of course is a very present topic with AI and such stuff.
All in all I was very invested in the story and these two characters and what their final fate would be.
My biggest criticsm is only, that I think the narrator was often to fast in the beginning.
